For most people, throwing food in the microwave is the quickest and easiest way to reheat your meals. But the truth is, using the microwave is not the best choice for some meals. Whether you don’t own a microwave or are trying to live microwave-free, here are some of your best reheating options.

Stovetop

Generally, most meals that you cooked on the stove are better reheated back on the stove. Anything liquid or saucy is usually safe to be reheated in a pan, and usually tastes just as good as fresh, if not better.

You can also use a skillet to reheat foods that you want to give a nice toast, such as sandwiches and pizza. Oily foods like fries, nuggets, and onion rings can also be reheated nicely in a pan.

Steamer

Use your steamer to heat foods that tend to dry out easily, like chicken, or ones that stick together or would stick in a pan like pasta. The indirect, gentle heat from the steamer also works well on vegetables, eggs, and some delicate meals.

Your toaster oven basically works on any dried meal, but is a most excellent choice for fried, breaded, crunchy, and other foods that taste best with a toasty crust such as pizza, pastries, and sandwiches. The toaster oven is also great for reheating small batches of food.

Oven

The oven is great for reheating meals that were previously baked, such as pies and lasagna. It’s also the most obvious choice for reheating large slabs of meat such as rib, lamb, or turkey.

When it comes to pizza though, people often think that the oven is the first choice for reheating, but that’s not always the case, especially if you’re just heating up a couple of slices.
